About Tako Poké
Tako Poké’s owner/operator, Andre Mercado, is a former 6153 Airframes Mechanic with the United States Marine Corps. His vision is to fuse trend-setting poké bowls with traditional Hawaiian hot food, and opened Tako Poké in the hopes of bringing Hawaiian culture to Texas. Located in Houston’s high-end Galleria area, at the corner of Chimney Rock and Richmond Ave., Tako Poke is a staple lunch-spot for many young professionals in the area. With plenty of seating, Tako Poké is also a place you can bring your family and friends to enjoy a fresh and delicious meal.
Poké, pronounced POH-keh, comes from the Hawaiian word poke, which means to slice or cut. Beginning as a snack prepared by fisherman, the concept has boomed in popularity over the past year. Poké is a simple meal, traditionally made with raw fish, green onion, limu seaweed, soy sauce, salt and sometimes kukui nut meat.
Poké may originate in Hawaii, but as a team of innovative food lovers, we are constantly creating unique flavor combinations while keeping true to the style of this ever-popular cuisine. We offer our customers a variety of proteins and toppings, so our customers can get as creative as they want. From salmon and tuna, to crushed hot Cheetos and jalapeños, there really is something at Tako Poké for everyone.
We also offer a variety of hot Hawaiian food including chicken wings, burgers, huli-huli chicken skewers, and more. Our Instagram wall, painted by Leah Hereford (Mural Mule) of Houston, offers customers a great photo-op when they stop in to visit us. We hope to see you and your family soon.
